Gatlinburg Area Guide

Gatlinburg TN is home to Ripley's Aquarium and boasts shopping galore. This town resembles a German mountain style vacation wonderland. The Gatlinburg area is best known for it's many unique stores.

Gatlinburg has a great "nightlife" which attracts both young and older visitors alike. It's close proximity to the National Park and it's sister town, Pigeon Forge, make it a "must see" community when visiting the Smoky Mountains.

Parking is mostly provided within paid lots. The area has shuttle bus service, so for about a quarter, you can explore any location. This is definitely the most economical and easiest way to travel in Gatlinburg. Once there, most stores and attractions are within walking distance. The shuttle service serves both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Ripley's Aquarium

Ripley's Aquarium, located in Gatlinburg, is the most visited aquarium in the country. Here one can see 11 foot sharks swimming freely among many other types of fish and sting rays in their natural environment.

Ripley's Aquarium features a tunnel style walkway which provides a fantastic "overhead" experience as the sharks and fish swim completely around and above the viewer. Here one can see the fish from every possible angle, just as a diver would experience.

Ripley's Aquarium also features many other aquatic tanks and exhibits. Poison fish, horse shoe crabs, barracuda, grouper, the list goes on and on. One could easily spend several days in this magical aquatic wonderland. The colors and manorism of the fish have to be seen, as no words could ever convey the experience. Tickets are required for admission.
